The Flying Scotsman
An early (for me) blip today. We were out of the house by 9am (some very reluctantly) with the promise of a McDonalds breakfast at Long Rock. The wind blew and the rain lashed down but we found ourselves a spot to watch The Flying Scotsman come by.
While we waited, a GWR intercity trundled out of the depot, it's rear engine being 'Harry Patch'. I missed the name but managed to photograph the bulk of the engine. 20 minutes later it sped back past again - tooting and waving at the hundreds of people stood along the railway line.
Finally the plume of steam was spotted up towards St Michaels Mount and the excitement grew! She trundled by with every person on board waving happily at those of us being blown about (thankfully the rain had stopped) but waving back! Oh I do love a bit of happy train spotting and even the kids said they'd enjoyed it. A grand morning out
