Nuts

A bit if a random catch up

Today the rain came after blissful late September weather that drew us to the sea again. The change has been fairly brutal but the fronts sweeping down from the north dislodged more walnuts. As the early evening fell I was collecting before the cinghiali ( wild boar) emerged.

A lot of walnuts were planted in the Casentino but there appears to be no infrastructure to process them. The guy serving behind the deli counter in The Le Sieci coop reckons they might have been planted for timber ( he did an agronomy degree thirty years back). I joked that maybe I’d discover we were millionaires.

Although given the current ruinous direction of populism in Italy the poorhouse seems a more likely destination than the marina at Punta Ala.
