Nottingham

We had a wonderful day out today in Nottingham. My brother was running in the Robin Hood half marathon so we made the trip to support him and to meet up with an old friend.

We waited at the 11th mile mark to see James run. It was an anxious wait as we weren’t sure if we had missed him. But then after a while a figure in fluorescent yellow came running down the road and we all cheered for him! He did amazingly well and crossed the finish line in 1hr 58 and raised a whopping £600 for charity!

We spent the rest of the day pottering about and reminiscing of my university days. We showed the children my Halls and the student union. James pointed out the pubs and music venues that we used to frequent at the weekends. They were more interested in finding all the decorated robins that were hidden around the city. 33 in total and we found 18. All completely unique and some were stunningly beautiful.

The highlight of the day for Alexander was getting to ride on the trams. That’s another mode of transportation ticked off his list and apparently trams are now second favourite to trains and have overtaken buses!
