The Gift

We were round at Bags' for breakfast this morning so we could catch up with this wonderful couple...…… the beautiful (in heart and mind - not just looks) Lisa and her very personable partner John.
We also had a fleeting visit from another schoolfriend of the girls- Tracy - who is over on a visit from Australia where she now lives.
Lisa stayed with us for a couple of years after a rather unfortunate set of circumstances. 
This meant that she was able to stay in school and finish her education by going to university and going into nursing specialising in neo-natal care. She has spent some years in the Middle East and is now back in this country and has just been made (what most of my followers would know the post as) Matron ….. at more than a handful or two years younger than usual.
I am so proud of her.
She now also has the confidence to instigate giving a hug, which she most certainly didn't have when she came to us (like a discarded pet as I told her).
When I told her how happy this all made me when she and John were leaving, we both stood in the hall with tears welling up.
I don't think it will be too long before SWMBO and I go down south to visit them.
