Repairs
Back blipped on 27th.
We've been watching a patch of damp above W's desk getting gradually larger and more obvious for a year or more.
Eventually, we took action. We had three estimates, varying widely in what they considered was the correct remedial action, and in how much it would cost. In the end, we opted for the cheapest, and have been pleasantly surprised at their efficiency and neatness.
They stripped off the old render outside, finding a spot that was very damp, and therefore hopefully the cause. They've rerendered, and painted it for us. They also stripped the plaster inside, and replastered.
We still have to paint the internal wall, and it would seem we don't have any of the original paint left - I think we found it had "gone off" during a clear out. We can't remember what it was called, so we'll have to look for a nearest match.
We've also bought new curtain rails and curtain material to keep me occupied during my convalesence.
