Fleece
My course this morning was at Jamieson and Smith's. They have everything from raw fleece to carpets, all in Shetland wool. This was waiting to be sorted and graded, straight from the sheep. It smelled powerfully, but wonderfully, sheepy!
Hazel Tindall taught us all about Fair Isle knitting, and she was excellent. She was so patient and explained it all so clearly. I learnt so much, including cutting steeks, which is how you turn a tubular piece of knitting into a flat piece by, yes, cutting it! Scary stuff!
I didn't quite finish the bookmark we were to make, but managed that this afternoon, as Bodkin and I sat in the Hub, with dozens of other knitters, chatting and drinking coffee and, naturally, knitting! Everyone is happy to share tips and ideas, suggestions and advice. If they don't have the answer they will suggest someone else who might. Again, we learnt a lot!
Back to L's house, where a delicious meal awaited us. Our heads are just buzzing with ideas, patterns and colours!
