After the Rain

I woke up this morning to heavy, grey skies and the patter of rain (not to mention the persistent drip from an overflowing gutter which I need to get fixed!). By lunchtime it had all disappeared to be replaced with blue skies and sunshine.

I ventured out into the garden to find the bees and hoverflies busy drawing out the nectar from the last of the summer flowers.  This bee still looked a little bedraggled as it drank of the raindrops and nectar from a flowering thyme.
