The Untrained Eye

Athabasca Glacier, Jasper National Park!

We walked over the terminal moraine and on to this Glacier which is reducing by 15 metres a year. The team there having been logging reduction year on year and estimate it will cease to exist within 50 years. No guessing what they blame it on.

Why should we care? They say because 75% of fresh water is stored in ice somewhere in the world.

It was great experience visiting ice caves, crevasses and gulleys in addition to viewing points at Bow and Peyto Lake on the Icefield Parkway and finishing the day at Lake Louise.

Extras show trek to and obstacles on the snow.

A tiring but fascinating day.

Should sleep well tonight!
