A contingency plan
G, M and I had tickets for today's Duxford airshow where we were meeting our great friends M&M. However the weather forecast was awful with heavy rain due up to 4pm, strong winds and a temperature of only 8C. On a good run it's a two hour drive there and yesterday there was a 2 hours traffic queue to get in. So after much deliberation we reluctantly decided not to go.
Instead we went out for Sunday lunch at the Sea Marge hotel in Overstrand. The building was commissioned by a German banked called Sir Edgar Speyer in 1908 . He was a friend of the Kaiser which led to various rumours during WWI which included that the Sea Marge was used as a signalling point for German submarines. Sir Edgar was stripped of his knighthood and British nationality and deported. From the restaurant you have a lovely view across the garden to the sea. After the meal we took the short walk to the cliff edge where the sea today had some quite unusual colours.
Soooooo looking forward to the final episode of Bodyguard tonight!
Diary
The garden re-landscaping is still ongoing as 1 chap has been left to do virtually everything on his own. He works very hard and very long 6 day weeks from 7 to 7. He had help yesterday with the fence. The soil is rock hard as it's next to a hedge and we've had so little rain. Yesterday a Kango breaker drill broke under the strain of trying to drill out a post hole!
