Surprises II
I was reading in bed last night -- one of those whodunits that's impossible to put down, once you get beyond a certain point. It was past midnight when I found out who the bad worst guy was, so when the alarm went off at 7:00 I just reached over and turned it off. It was 9:00 when I awoke again, this time ready to face the world.
After my coffee, I discovered that the part of my brain that makes decisions wasn't functioning. I could think of many things that I could have done, but wasn't able to choose which one to do. Fortunately, fate intervened.
Our contractor, Glen, had said he wouldn't be able to do any work on our bathroom or bedroom until next week, but today he called and asked if he could pour the leveling compound on the floor tomorrow. I told him I was eager to get the project finished, but I wasn't sure I could get anyone to help me move the heavy items out of the bedroom at such short notice. He offered to help. That meant I (and Cynthia) needed to empty the closet, strip the bed, and move the smaller items, such as nightstands and lamps today.
I'm very happy with the unexpected schedule change. The leveling compound takes 5-7 days to dry, but it's hard enough to walk on the next day, so Glen will be able to start the bathroom tiling next week while it's still drying. I see a glimmer of light that might be the end of the tunnel.
None of the above has anything to do with the blip photo. There was a short sunny interval between storms late this afternoon while I was taking a break. The sun shone through the high window in the dining room and caught the handle of the coat closet in the hall.
