Flamingo Pair

We drove south from our new hotel near Custonaci, Sicily, and birded along a series of salt pans along the west coast, mainly south of Trapani.  It was a day mostly  of literally torrential downpours, somewhat intermittent but nevertheless very daunting. I must have captured this image of greater flamingos (at a considerable distance) during one of the brief brighter intervals. It was probably at Salina Chiusicella (the camera's GPS has marked it  on the map. Other than a fair number of flamingos,  a few hundred pied avocets (the Eurasian species) were the most numerous birds--I'll try to add an extra of a few of them before long.
Posted the next evening--I'm still behind (a birding tour always leaves me fighting for time).
