Whiteley Nab
(Saturday 15th Sept 2018) I nipped out for a walk between the T20 Cricket semi-finals and final and wandered up and up on to the moors.
Despite the poor light the colours in the heather and bilberry drew me this scene.
Once I started to line this shot up I realised it was a rather wonderful mix of land use. I can see (from the foreground) managed heather moorland, mixed woodland plantation, improved grassland, unimproved grassland and natural woodland in Long Clough and on top of the Nab an evergreen plantation. There are farm buildings in the distance and main road North/South (A624) in the second dip.
The variety of land means variety of wildlife - its not all Red Grouse (though of course I disturbed a dozing dozen of them as I reached this point )
I got back to see Worcestershire win the Cricket final and have to say I picked them as winners at the start of the day many because none of the pundits gave them a chance.
