All White
Another day, another colchicum. The white form of Colchicum speciosum is an excellent garden plant and much sought after. Typically for this species, it's one of the later flowering colchicum with lovely wine glass flowers on very sturdy tubes - the 'stem' is actually part of the flower, not a true stem at all. Big leaves in spring mean it should be sited carefully and although a bit of sunshine shows them off well, Colchicum speciosum generally copes better in shadier spots (such as this) than most colchicum.
Busy days aplenty this week. Today after an early online lesson for Jamie, we visited Grandma before a trip into the city for lunch at The Waffle House. Deeelicious! We were celebrating Jacinta's recovery ahead of her return to work tomorrow. It was her treat to thank us for looking after her this summer :-)
Later, at home I did a few useful jobs in the garden - tied up the windblown runner bean canes - and progressed a couple of projects I'm working on. A good day.
