Back In Time

The first full day of our short break started with a panic when I realised I had run out of one of my daily tablets. I did this a few years back in Cornwall and it was a right rigmarole to arrange an emergency prescription. I had to sign on as a temporary patient which took most of the day to organise. So now I have a holiday checklist which says 'tablets - CHECK ENOUGH'. In spite of this I ran out of one of them which was on a 7 day strip rather than a 14 day one like the rest. Luckily these days though you can have a prescription sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choice, so we didn't have to disrupt our day.

So,  as planned, we drove to Sheringham and caught the steam train to Holt where we made a quick diversion to the pharmacy before catching a bus into the town itself. We did the Holt Owl Trail (extra) around the town. We were the only ones doing it, and it took us a while to realise that the plaques we were looking for were in the pavement, not on the buildings! We had just missed the 1940's weekend, and a lot of the shops and pubs had special displays (see The Lobster extra). We had a pootle around Sheringham, which we liked a lot, on our return and then drove on to Cromer (The Gem Of The Norfolk Coast) which we didn't like as much.

In the evening I decided to have another walk to the beach to see if I could get a sunset, but the path we used yesterday was now closed as they were reinforcing it! I did manage though to get another view of the windmill (extra) before I gave up.
