Old apple trees
We had such a gorgeous blue sky today so I dragged the Mr out for a walk to Carkeek Park, which is about 20 minutes away, directly west. I blipped it a few months ago. There is an old orchard there and the apples are ripening on some of the trees, falling off and rolling down hill to come to rest at the base of this really old gnarly tree. I liked the shapes of the apples and the corresponding globes in the base of the old tree.
There is a small beach on the sound and you can see across to the Olympic Mountains (extra). We sat there on the beach, watching the birds (there were mostly gulls but at least one osprey hunting), and the ferry go from Edmonds to Kingston and back. And the train comes right along there too. While we were sitting there, 3 freight trains came and went.
Standing on the overpass, with the train going under is actually quite a thrill and feels almost dangerous. One of the trains had 4 Boeing fuselages on it and there was what I think a very funny sign on those cars (extra - does it seem contradictory?). Boeing (whose plant is north of here in Everett) apparently is really behind on putting their airplanes together so I'm not sure where they are sending these fuselages.
I'm doing my best to enjoy the blue skies while we have them!
