The Harbour

In Lyme Regis for a few days without WiFi. This morning we walked down to the Harbour and attempted to walk the length of The Cobb which was immortalised in the film of The French Lieutenant's Woman.

The Cobb is a stone built breakwater/sea defence but today only the brave and foolhardy made it to the farthest point. The waves were cascading over the wall with a tremendous amount of force. We were caught by a wave and totally drenched, and spent some time afterwards attempting to dry out and watching other people's antics as they shared the same fate.

My blip is taken from the Cobb looking onto the harbour. My extra shows the Cobb from the "pier" that runs parallel to the Cobb where the fishing people keep their equipment .

It has been a grey cloudy day but we went for a four mile mainly uphill walk this afternoon and it felt very hot, especially as we were overdressed . I thought we must be in france when we arrived at a pub in the village of Uplyme in readiness for refreshment, and it was closed.

When we arrived back at the Harbour in Lyme Regis we were spoiled for choice on where to have a pint.
