Coimbra Smoke

Arrived in Coimbra (pronounced “Quaeembra”, two syllables. It’s the third largest city in Portugal and the location of the oldest university in Europe and perhaps all of the Portuguese speaking world. We visited the universty and today was coincidently the first day of the semester with lots of traditional type hazing of the new students. The upperclassmen are wearing black and white, with long black capes. They appeared to be having fun.

The blip is of three guys solving the problems of the world. The extra of some of the female students being led by an upperclasswoman.

While I am in Portugal, I have been ‘escaping’ the rath of Hurricane Florence where I live in southeastern North Carolina.
