Fairy Ring Revisited ...

During my lunch break I decided to check out the huge fairy ring I blipped on the 1st of this month, in Bracondale wood.
The effects of the odd weather this year are apparent. Last year there were sloes dripping off the blackthorns like honey, the Yews in Bracondale wood were festooned with bright red anils, and the 'shrooms in this ring had grown huge. This year sloes were minimal, the yew trees have just a few anils on them and these 'shrooms are only about half the size they'd got to last year - and many of them have keeled over and look a bit woeful.
I decided to grab a few close-up shots of some of those remaining upright, and liked this one best .....
