milkmaids...

...Burchardia umbellata a perennial herb native to southern Australia and popping up in stands along our daily bush walk.
They grow from a tuber which can be eaten raw or cooked but I haven't as yet found out why a local brochure 'Some Common Wildflowers in the Hills Area' has its common name as 'milkmaid'.
