The perfect dive....

.....without any hesitation there's a very quick push up, tummy tucked in, head down, rolling over as entering the water, some nice small splashes, a straight tail, finishing off with just a few bubbles, all done in a matter of seconds!! Perfect in every way. The New Zealand Scaup are the smallest ducks and only true diving ducks in New Zealand.

It's been a personal challenge for me to try and capture 'the perfect dive' completed so expertly by Mr Scaup. I've tried on numerous occasions and today's series of shots is the closest I've got. Now, if only I knew when it was going to happen and then I might manage to get the starting push up but really there's no chance the scaup's dive happens so quickly with no warning.

Saturday......thick morning fog at home but clearer at the lakes so no misty shots like I thought I was going to get but delighted with the scaup dive. Warm day followed, calm as can be......
