Flight of the heron.....

......elegantly flying by after a dog had unsettled him, snow capped mountains are a long way off in the distance.

I had a super morning with blipper mpp26 round the estuary in Christchurch and then on to Travis Wetlands. Both places had a good variety of birds. We saw oystercatchers, gulls, swallows, terns, a white-faced heron and a lovely flock of godwits, gosh I've never seen so many, these ones were over-wintering on the estuary. My shot wasn't so good of them but I may put it in extras along with the little black shag and his beady green eye which we saw at Travis Wetlands.
