Manchester Museum
Well today the rain poured ALL day! We walked to the museum and spent most of the day there. It is a wonderful museum .......full of families today so very noisy. Many of the contents are from the collections of Victorian business men and are now displayed in tasteful ways ( butterflies in the extra) and it has the most extensive and fascinating fossil collection I have ever seen.
One of the most interesting parts was the little ‘ Living Museum’ or Vivarium where they are breeding endangered amphibians and reptiles. This fellow was a small Green Monitor lizard.
In the streets at the moment there are all these Bee statues - the worker bee is Manchester’s emblem reflecting its industrial heritage and the source of its growth into the city it is today ( also an extra).
I do love Manchester :)
