The Spotlight Kid

A decent stretch of knocking the old steps to pieces before rain stopped play and as luck would have it, Summer 1993 was showing at the Filmhouse. Two five star reviews in the Guardian! That’s as may be - I’m sure they genuinely found it beautiful and engaging rather than tedious and uninspiring.
One of the joys of working away in the garden is catching up on podcasts, but I’ve got to say - see that Matthew Parris - is he not the most naive twerp to ever be allowed to broadcast a show about lives and culture? Hanif Kureshi’s ‘great life’ was David Bowie - Parris’s observation is that anyone who has to go to such lengths dressing up and being theatrical must lack talent. He really ought to go back and live in the Enpire in the 1940s from whence he sprung. Anything vaguely counter-cultural and he’s totally lost, the jackass. And I’ll tell you another thing that annoys me...
