View from my bed

Second total knee replacement today. Had to get here for 0700, transportation provided by poor W, but didn't go to theatre till after 1130.

Spinal anaesthetic with just a smidgen of sedation. It took till almost 1700 for the spinal to fully wear off, and I still have some numbness and loss of muscle power in the right foot. Consensus is that it's the result of all the local anaesthetic that the surgeon injected around the knee to help with the pain. It's still pretty painful - morphine is my friend tonight.

I've been lucky enough to get a single room, so it's possible I might get some sleep tonight.

Last time I could have been home by Friday evening, but for a delay on the post op X-ray. Hoping to get going tomorrow, still holding thumbs (South African expression) for discharge tomorrow evening.
