Sturt’s Desert Pea
We went to one of the supermarkets (Woolworths) which is in a shopping centre - pretty common for supermarkets in Australia, compared to the UK. I’d forgotten that there was a lovely piece of artwork on the wall - I couldn’t get a very good picture of the full painting, so I have cropped it to show off just part of it.
It depicts Sturt’s Desert Pea (no, I haven’t missed an a out of Stuart!), which is the red flower in the picture. It’s found in certain parts of Australia, particularly places with low rainfall. I’ve seen a few in person, last time when I came over here in 2016, and again when I first arrived. It’s an odd looking flower really, and the black part very much looks like a pea.
Maybe one day I can blip an actual Sturt Pea!
