What is with hornets this year?

Thursday night I destroy the new nest being built outside my front door.
Friday night I find a tiny hornet nest behind Boome Park while walking my dog. 
This morning I came way too close to knocking my head into a gigantic nest on a limb next to the sidewalk. 
This evening I see this one with the blue wings. 
There is a ladybug in the picture too.

I thought it was going to rain so I did not hike but I was very productive. I got all the serial numbers of my camera equipment listed. I got pristine dollar bills because Peruvian banks won't accept any non-perfect ones. Washed clothes, blah blah blah.
