Bath III
Our third day in Bath and Ann is earnestly reading the local property papers. I tell her we can't afford to live here, but it falls on deaf ears.
This morning we went to see Lansdown Crescent via Queen Square and the Assembly Rooms. Bath is build in a dip surrounded by hills, some of them very steep. The posher houses in the 18th century were build high up to maximise the view (and look down on the poor presumably). Lansdown is one such area. Up very high, very steep, and of course we walked there!
Still the effort was worth it. A beautiful crescent of Georgian town houses with a wonderful view. If anything they are more elegant than the Royal Crescent, but less well known or visited (not surprisingly).
We visited the Assembly Rooms on the back down into town and had a well deserved rest and coffee.
In the afternoon we went to the Museum of Bath at Work . A fascinating exhibition of the world of work in Bath over the last 100 years or so, including exact reconstructions of factories and workshops.
Today's photo is taken from there. It is one of three windows in the metalwork workshop.. The other two windows can be seen here and here.
