Busking

L's birthday and her band were busking for a couple of hours as part of the Big Beach Busk on Porty Prom. This little kid was mesmerised by E playing the bass guitar. Took a load of pics, and even managed a shot of the Dolphins that graced the afternoon with a swim-past. Hard not to imagine they'd come to investigate what was going on! After a day at the busk we headed up to Summerhall to see a Fleetwood Mac tribute band. Billed as playing the whole of Rumours, and starting punctually at 7pm, we were still queuing outside at 7:30pm, got into the venue only to wait another half hour for the band to come on and then when they finally did (the website had said we needed to be there promptly - clearly no one told the band) what did they do but mess about with the order of the album tracks? We'd imagined a recreation of the album, as bands seem to do these days, but instead these guys thought they knew better then FM and shuffled things about, even playing a track from side two in the first half. Perhaps they thought that track order doesn't matter any more but back in the days of vinyl it most definitely did. You played the album in order and then turned it over for side two. They were okay, even if they needed seven people to cover the five members of FM. The guitarist was the best. But come the interval we'd already decided it wasn't what we'd expected and as L said, I'm at an age now that if I'm not having fun I'll just leave. So we did.
