Rain 2 - 1 Sunshine

In view of the inclement weather forecast we took the decision to drive to Tobermory for the day. It’s the opposite end of the island from where we are along mostly single track roads. The outward journey along the scenic route took 1.3/4 hours, the return just over 1 1/2 hours.

The scenic route was indeed scenic and would have been spectacular in clear weather as the narrow B8035 hugged the southern shores of Loch Na Keal for many miles.

It only started to rain when we’d arrived in Tobermory. Once it started it was pretty damp. We walked along the colourful Main Street, had a coffee and scone, called in at the Mull Historical Museum (very good) then had lunch.

We booked a tour and tasting at the Tobermory Distillery which proved to be interesting and walked along a dripping canopy of trees towards Anos Park one way and the lighthouse in the opposite direction never quite reaching either destination.

On the way back we encountered a herd of Highland cattle on the road, one of whom commanded the road for a good few minutes before he ambled off to one side.

Just as the daylight faded the clouds lifted to give a fascinating sky but uploading images from the camera is a step too far with the slow WiFi so you’ll have to make do with a typical shot of Tobermory.
