Edinburgh Fringe 2018 day 3

This year we’re packing most of our Fringe activities into one long weekend. Day 3 went like this:

30 - start preparing lunch before everyone else gets up.

15 - Mr hazelh emerges. Send him to the butcher's to buy a leg of lamb.

30 - Katherina and Andrew appear. Breakfast is served.

00 - with most of the lunch prep complete, and the leg of lamb in the oven on a low heat, Mr hazelh and I set off for George Square.

00 - Guy Masterton's performance of A Christmas Carol.

45 - back home again to roast the potatoes and parsnips, heat the peas in the pan, and make gravy.

00 - lunch is served: roast lamb is followed by kiwi and peach layered pudding.

00 - taxi arrives to transport Katherina and Andrew to Waverley station to catch their train to Newcastle. Then we suddenly have two unscheduled hours of free time, so I tidy up while Mr hazelh watches an episode of Star Trek.

00 - walk back up to town to meet Liz, Tony, Katie, Terry and Laura for supper at Zizzi (which takes some finding, hidden between Cockburn Street and the Royal Mile).

15 - dinner is served. Despite having consumed a huge lunch just a couple of hours earlier, Mr hazelh devours an enormous pizza. I manage a salad. We won't mention my salted cameral chocolate pudding.

15 - join the queue for entry into Princes Street Gardens.

45 - take our seats at the Ross Band Stand. We are apparently sitting behind a supermodel.

00 - enjoy the marvellous concert (Bernstein and Holst) and the fireworks (blipped).

00 - home for an 'early' night ;-)

55 - bed.

Exercise today: walking (20,449 steps).
