'Dam good fun
I'm in beautiful Amsterdam and I've blipped a picture of a book. Sue me.
One of the great things about being away is the opportunity to stick your head in a good book for entire hours at a time (sorry Rob). I was given this book back in March (thanks CS) but I've only just got round to reading it. I loved it. I loved all 620 pages of it. I loved the winding narratives and the historical references and the social commentary and the way it holds up a mirror at 2018 America. But I also fell in love with the characters. It's been worth being antisocial for.
Aside from ploughing through The Nix, we made the most of our last day in Amsterdam and did some more cycle exploration. We headed to Muiden via a long search for a breakfast in a district where people seemingly don't ever eat, finally ending up having a strange but delightful brunch after being chastised by the police for riding in the wrong place.
Muiden was delightful, although probably a town reserved for the moneyed and / or the retired. We briefly gazed at the castle before stopping for a refuelling beverage.
This evening we pootled around the city, which was, finally, warm - just like a late summer's evening should be. Amsterdam was beautiful tonight, bloomen beautiful.
