Pyynikki race

Pyynikinajo was a motorcycle race run at Tampere Pyynikki esker, which was run in 1932-1971 34 times. The races were left untold due to war between 1940 and 1945.

The Golden Age of Pyyniki race Days is located in the early 1960's, when Pyynikki race was run at the MM level. Over the years, three drivers were killed in the Pyynikki race, and the competition was banned too dangerous in 1971.

Now organized race is a memorial show race happening. First show race was held in 1991, then in 2000, in 2015 and again this year.
As in those memorial times, the track was as twisted as in the old times - and the "racing" motorcycles are old too...

My poor arthritis knees did not like the walk up and down along Pyynikki esker paths and staris. But I got some nice shots. Here is the album.
