Trippin'
Another roadtrip around the hinterland of Bendigo, this time with W and N, as well as Mr A. Essentially, it was goldrush towns and farmland. After stopping off in Newbridge to photograph the River Lodden, we made a return trip to Tarnagulla, where I regretted not having photographed more of the 'ghost' high street shops when we visited on Friday. On to Donully, where we patronised the excellent bakery, and then Maldon, via various stops in the countryside to photograph bits of dereliction and decay. In Maldon we went up to the Mount Tarrangower lookout to get a good view over the countryside. Our final port of call was the dredge and dragline on Porcupine Flat - essentially bits of gold mining equipment which were abandoned after 1984 and are now tourist attractions (although I would worry about the environmental implications of leaving them to rust away...).
After popping back to the house to put dinner into the slow cooker, we then headed into Bendigo and did a swift tour of its notable sights, before enjoying a round of icecreams. A fine last day in central Victoria.
