Purple Craze

Owen is closer to age three than two and it scares me how fast he is growing up. I have been completely remiss at documenting his daily accomplishments and decided to start this Olog to record my favorite stories each day. He is so funny and smart and determined and energetic!

Tonight he noticed the photo when John took him hiking on our anniversary in Idaho and I was sick at the hotel room in Ketchum. He wanted to know where Daddy was and then asked us if we remembered that song about Idaho. He wanted to hear it and immediately grabbed his tutu and wig for dancing. He was having so much fun and did not want to go to bed. As I tucked him in he asked me, "Who painted me this tree" and I reminded him that Gigi made it. The he noticed a crack in the wall and asked, "Is this linoleum" which I thought was funny because he has been asking about linoleum as it is mentioned in one of his favorite songs lately, "Poop goes in the potty." I told him the wall was made of plaster but that our kitchen floor has linoleum. He was really resisting sleep tonight - working the Mom weaknesses and telling me he just wanted to cuddle and asking me to "rock a baby" and "hold you." I thought he was about asleep tonight when he started calling for me to show him the stars, which shortly turned into screaming to see the stars. I went up to get him, wrapped him up in his quilt that our friend Mary Culik made for him, and went out on the front porch to look, but unfortunately the clouds were too thick tonight. When we came back inside he wanted to see his Daddy and then John tried to put him to bed but he would have nothing of the sort. He asked me to rock him and sing Jewel, and tonight he was in the mood to know what every phrase meant:
me singing: "I got my maple syrup"
O: "what's that mean?"
me: "I break the yolks and make a smiley face"
O: "what's that mean?"
me: "I kinda like it in my brand new place"
O: "what's that mean?"
me: "Consoled a cup of coffee..."
O: "I like coffee!" with a big smile on his face

Finally got him into bed covered up with 8 blankets and the seahorse singing to him. Love that little guy!
