Gem stones and waterfalls

We started the day visiting Neptune’s staircase. A series of 10 lock gates, one after the other going uphill. It’s quite a sight. The kiddies wanted to walk across every single one, so we did. Just as we were about to start our picnic at the top it started raining so we dashed back down to picnic in the car!

In the afternoon we split up. We dropped James off at the Ben Nevis distillery for a tour and tasting and me and the kiddies went to Treasures of the Earth. A gem stone and mining museum. It was really interesting and we learnt a lot.

Later on we collected a slightly tipsy James and drove back to our cottage. A nice little area by the loch caught our eye so we stopped for a look. We threw stones into the water, poked jelly fish and wandered down the shoreline. Further along we came across a wonderful little waterfall. No one else was around and it was quite magical. Our own private piece of paradise.
