Dark Hollows Falls
Today has been the best day by far! A nice start to the day by having a dip in the pool then spending an hour in Walmart much to Heidi’s delight. Hit the road to get to the Skyline Drive which took us through the Appalachians and Shenandoah. It was a lovely drive, stopping every so often to admire the views. Along the way we had some very interesting comments from everyone starting with how we now know which side of the road to drive on, take a “rapid right” or a “lengthy lingering left”. Dad’s quote was “What is this XING HORSE?” Which mum worked out meant “horse crossing”.
As we drove we got very close to the edge of the mountains to which Heidi yelled “We’re on the verge of brink of death” I think she got confused with the phrases..
We then had a nice walk to the waterfalls with only a few trip ups. It was absolutely gorgeous and we made it back just before the rain started, lucky us! Continued our drive only to run into a bear! It was pretty cool seeing one up close. Got onto the highway again to finish the last stretch of the journey and made it to Peaks of Otter just in time for the most amazing dinner! The staff were so friendly and really accommodating and the lodge with view of the lake was stunning.
Definitely want to visit here again!
