Peaks of Otter

After a good night’s sleep at our ‘Peaks of Otter’ lodge, we went back to the restaurant for breakfast. I had the most delicious waffle with blueberries. We then took a stroll around the lake, and although it was laced with mist, it was still beautiful. Then back on the road: next stop Blowing Rock. We saved a little time by taking the interstate to Fancy Gap, then picking up the Blue Ridge Parkway for the rest of the journey. Pretty, but not as good as the Skyline Drive. Maybe partly down to the weather; the mist kept coming in and disappearing just as quickly.
We arrived in Blowing Rock in torrential rain and checked in to our ‘Alpine Village Inn’- another cute little row of rooms with super friendly staff. Dinner found us at the local sports bar, followed by ice cream from the local parlour- not cheap, but worth it! We’re now all holed down in our cosy room under kitsch bedding ready for an early night (when we’re all done reviewing photos and blipping).
