Super Stupa

We had to move out of our hotel today as they were fully booked. Fortunately we had a meeting with a man called Karma Sherpa (pretty apt for a Nepalese, right?!). He sorted us with a room in the tranquil and lovely Sechen Guest House, which is part of a Tibetan monastery. And hopefully he is going to sort us out with a flat as well. We are meeting him again tomorrow. He is very kind, like lots of other people we have met so far.

One of which, and star of yesterday's Blip, also was helping us today, Santos. He really does live up to his name ("Saint" in Spanish). He showed us two apartments he knew of, they could be options.

The rest of the day we have taken it easy really. I have felt quite drained by the excitement of it all so today was a nice chance to relax and read a book (well a Kindle, do you read a Kindle? Or do you read a book on a Kindle? Hmmm).

We did finally walk inside the Super Stupa that we have been skirting for the last three days. It is a massive Buddhist site and is World Heritage status. It is round, big and surrounded by prayer wheels (which you can see in this picture, hiding under the curtains), people walk clockwise around the Stupa with prayer beads, some even chant. In the evenings there can be hundreds of people all walking around the stupa. There are so many types of people as well, so many types of costumes and so many faces. I cant wait to get a bit more settled and start taking some portraits, there is so much character in faces where ever you look.

I had curry for tea as well, grumph :-P
