Santos

This is our hotel manager, I think. He is very cool, friendly and helpful.

Today was unforgettable. It was also the last day of the festival.

We got a high view of the stupa, had an omlette breakfast and went on more apartment hunting. We have nothing yet but we are closer!

We strolled the streets, today is brother and sister day and many people were wearing garlands (like Santos above) and had colourful tikka marks on their foreheads.

We visited a Tibetan monestary which was the most colourful amazing building ever, very impressive. Then I got bitten by a little yappy dog, grrrr, took me by surprise from behind then ran away. Coward.

We took our minds of this by dancing with the locals in the street, in broad day light. It was great fun and everyone laughed and appreciated our moves (mostly the Mrs'). They even bought us drinks. Great stuff.

We then went back to the monastary (to check the dog had been vaccinated against rabies, it had) and we were just in time for evening prayers. We sat through it all and it was other worldly, amazing stuff. Chanting, drum banging, singing, cymbal clashing and horn blowing. Amazing. And all the while the young monks kept looking at us and smiling like the cheeky kids they were!

We ended the day with Chinese food. Noodles that were delish.
