Serendipity Three

I guess is isn't serendipity anymore, but who cares.

I think this is my favorite part of the stained glass window, but then I have a thing for rodent art, or I should say rodents in art. My family is quite used to my fascination with the little dears and they will seek out and find any birthday, Christmas or get well card with a mouse, hamster or guinea pig on it. I save them all and have even framed some of them so I now possess a healthy rodent-themed art collection.

I used to have my own hamster -- Tinker Belle. She was a sweet thing, even potty trained (yes, they sell hamster pottys at the pet store, and it's really easy to potty-train a hamster). She took sick at a ripe old age and my vet put her to sleep. Because every time I had an animal put to sleep I had them cremated the vet assumed I intended the same for Tinker Belle and I failed to clarify that I had assumed they would simply dispose of her remains. About a week after I said goodby to Tink I got a call from the technician at the vet telling me I could come in and pick up her ashes. They were presented to me in a lovely little mahogany box inside of which was a teeny-tiny plastic bag with about a teaspoon of ash. I won't mention how much a private cremation costs for a hamster but trust me, I haven't lived that one down yet.
