Fried chicken and beer
Last night we went to eat Korean fried chicken with our Korean friends. Apparently eating fried chicken washed down with a beer is popular in Korea. You can even order it as a home delivery. We started the meal with Korean styled dumplings in a sauce with cabbage and fish cakes, it was actually delicious, although eating it with chop sticks was not easy. Korean chopsticks are flat and thinner than Thia or Chinese ones, and made of steel. Next up was the fried chicken. We had a mixture of plain and spicy served with a variety of sauces, see my extra. The spicy chicken wasn't very spicy so our friends asked for extra hot sauce for us. You eat the chicken with your fingers and are provided with what I can only describe as a three fingered glove to keep your fingers clean. We were joined by a Canadian friend so the three of us drank beer. The girls shared a can of peach flavoured sojou, which we did taste it and I liked it. The guys found in too sweet. We were reliably informed that the fried chicken in Korea is far better.
The restaurant is in a fairly new area of Chiang Mai, a city within a city has been created with lots of restaurants and expensive shops. There is also a town sqare. After dinner we walked to the square. Rock and roll music was playing and a large group of Thai youths were jiving on a platformed area. We danced on the cobblestoned street. It's not easy jiving or doing the twist on wet cobblestones. The children loved dancing.
The weather was fairly good to us. After a wet day the rain stopped and we were able to swim. As we all met up ready to head out for dinner the heavens opened. I had a small umbrella in my bag, the others had to run back inside to get umbrellas. The rain had stopped by the time we finished dinner. But as mentioned the streets were wet.
My photo is of the wall in the restaurant and writing says beer and chicken.
