Dinner in the jungle
Well at least that's what it felt like. The Burmese Restaurant that we like was very full last night, which is great for them, but meant that the only available table was next to the indoor garden.
Over the last week we have made friends with a lovely Korean lady who is here with her two children. We met them in the swimming pool and I have had a great time playing with the children who are both very confident in the water. We been out for dinner with them a couple of times and have learnt a lot about Korean Culture. Our friend has a Korean friend and her daughter staying with her this week and they took us out for dinner. Older people are treated very respectfully so when we were out with them they gave us the full treatment, they poured our drinks for us and we were expected to start eating first. Our friend did explain that a lot of this culture is changing. However, we did notice that three children were extremely well behaved, the two girls are 8 and the boy is 5, they talked quietly and didn't interrupt our conversation . On our first evening out with our friend she gave her children a small tablet to look at and I was surprised to see that rather than playing games or watching cartoons they were doing maths. The girl was doing simple tangents, cosines and sines. The little boy did some simple adding and subtractions.
We were going to take them to the Burmese but they had a very early start this morning as they are going on a treck to see elephants. We will all meet up later in the pool.
