Heron on Blue Lake
Today is a holiday for the Assumption of Mary, a Catholic belief that was made dogma in 1950 by Pope Pius XII, that Mary was taken bodily into heaven at the end of her life. As there is nothing in the Bible about it, it's not something we've ever thought about. The Padre invited us to the Eucharist, where both he and Nossa Senhora das Candeias were dressed in the blue of the Lake this afternoon, and where he preached an excellent sermon on the subject.
And then lunch with him and another priest, originally from Mourão, plus his sister and niece, here for the holiday. Really good and friendly conversation, discussing our differences. Thought the sister was a very special woman.
Extra of the Blues Fest last night (probably technically today) - this was Julian Burdock with Danny del Toro, a harmonica player, excellent music.
