Polesden Lacey
It is another very hot day again - I believe this seemingly never ending heat wave will finally finish tomorrow, and temperatures will be back to normal from Wednesday onwards. What a relief as it is too debilitating, you can't do anything in this heat.
I popped in to Polesden Lacy today, it's a lovely National Trust property not too far from where I live. I planned to photograph their famous walled rose garden, but when I got there it was quite apparent that the heat and drought have affected their gardens quite severely. The rose gardens were unimpressive, and in the extra you can see what the beautiful rolling green lawns in front of the house look like. I took some photos of flowers in their cut flower garden, but I liked this view of their old kitchen garden, which is watered daily. I felt a bit nostalgic being there as when the boys were little we used to go there so often, its very popular with children as it has large open lawns to play on and lovely trees to climb.
It is so hot to cook supper, it takes some effort - I have made a cold courgette soup which Thomas requested and am about to make the rest of the meal now. Thomas is on his final pre-university course this week at KCL in London, it has been a very busy summer holiday for him so far.
