The Start Of The Festivities

Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,

Tonight, as the start of birthday celebrations for The Eldest Mini Princess, we went to see Tape Face. I think the Mini Princesses may have been a bit dubious about going when I explained that it is a mime, but thankfully he is a world away quite from traditional mime (which I hate).

I have very happy memories associated with Tape Face. I have seen him twice before; the first time with you Lovely Tea Jenny and the second with you O’H dear. Both were excellent evenings!

We arrived an hour before the start of the show to the bemusement of The Youngest Mini Princess. She RUDELY suggested that she had been dragged out unnecessarily early just so The Prince and I could have a couple of drinks. I indignantly disputed this allegation and explained that we were soaking up the festival atmosphere and having QUALITY family time. The fact that we were having a couple of drinks was merely incidental.

He was very funny. It is quite a phenomenal skill to make people laugh without uttering a word. The Mini Princesses both loved it, particularly EMP.

It felt like a VERY grown up thing for them to be doing - hanging in the Pleasance Courtyard and going to a show at 9.40 pm. I had suggested going on EMP’s actual birthday but she thought that going to dinner AND a ‘late’ show might be ‘a bit much’. I don’t expect her to start sneaking out to clubs any time in the near future!
