Packwood House for the Big Butterfly Count

Glorious, sunny, very little wind : perfect conditions for butterflies.

There are usually lots and lots at Packwood House. Certainly the Large Whites were out in abundance, but that was more or less it.

I looked carefully and managed to spot a solitary Holly Blue in the Kitchen Garden, closely followed by a solitary Meadow Brown and a Small Copper. I then headed to the house (a Small Tortoiseshell by the wall) and in the bigger garden areas I saw one, yes, just one, more blue.

It’s my blip. I’ve looked on line and this one is more like a Small Blue than a Holly Blue (which my other one definitely was.)

Any ideas my friends ? I logged it as two Holly Blues in the end, but mainly because there wasn’t a Small Blue option.
