Happy Diwali!

Oh how I miss Diwali in India - the joy, the excitement, the noise, the colour and sparkle, less so the smoke and chaos in the street. I used to watch the proceedings from a rooftop bar on Mumbai's Marine Drive, fireworks exploding around my head. As a non-Hindu, Diwali for me marked the end of the hot period after the monsoon, and the beginning of the run up to Christmas - decorations tended to stay up around town and merged into those put up by shops and Christians for Christmas.

Wishing all my Indian friends, and friends made in Mumbai whether Indian or not, a very Happy Diwali - here's hoping the evil spirits stay far away and wealth is close by!
