Stone Circle at Grange, County Limerick
This is the entrance to Ireland’s largest standing stone circle. It is 150 feet in diameter and enclosed by 113 standing stones. I couldn’t get it all in one shot, but the extras show some of the circle. The largest stone is over 13 feet high and weighs 40 tons.
There are some guided walks from the nearby visitor centre at Loch Gur,but it isn’t necessary to go on them as anyone can freely walk round the outside and the centre of the circle. There are no restrictions. I didn’t have time to go on a guided walk, or visit some of the nearby smaller stone circles, as we were just doing a little detour and passing through the area.
