Reichsburg Cochem

Another very hot day in Europe and our holiday address in Germany is no exception. As  I type this it's almost midnight and it's still 25 degrees Celsius out. This morning I went swimming with the girls and in the afternoon I decided to follow Southern European protocol for hot days and have a siesta.

After dinner I drove to Cochem to execute the plan I made a couple of days ago: night photography of the Reichsburg (Imperial Castle). I wanted to make sure the floodlights would be on, so I sent an email and got a prompt response saying that the building would definitely be lit after sunset. Since there weren't any boats on the river Moselle, I could even make some shots with the reflections of the houses and the castle in the water of the river.

After I created a close-up of the castle (see the extra shot for today), I wanted to take some more shots with the reflections but that was caught short by a passing boat. Time to get back to the cottage again!
