River Esk Inveresk Weir.

A shorter ride this morning after yesterday's effort. It still feels very warm outside, but a little fresher than it has been. I'm off to Musselburgh to visit a small exhibition by my eldest son's girlfriend (on Facebook and website). The poster has the exhibition running until the 30th July, but it is actually running for a few days more.

I head out to Dalkeith, which is fairly busy, then take the cycle path to Whitecraig, and then the River Esk Path from Cowpitts Rd. I stop at the old weir, main blip. The sluice gates beside the weir, extra 1, directed the water down to Inveresk paper mill.

It's not far from here to Musselburgh Library where the small display of wildlife photographs is being held (and my son is working for that week). Then I go down to the the harbour to get a cup of coffee. It's my last day off this week, so I just spend some time looking out to sea.

After I cycle home via Arthur's Seat, a small mechanical occurs just as I am overtaking some cars. Then along the canal before heading home for lunch. You can see the whole ride at Relive here. It's sometimes very enjoyable having a shorter ride.

In the afternoon, twin 1 and I go shopping to get some stuff from Costco. We're lucky with the buses, despite thinking on the way out we might have to wait a while as two buses zoom past as we are just getting off the first bus. But no, another bus turns up 5 minutes later. On the way back, the buses link up successfully as well. Twin 1 is happy he doesn't spend too long away from his PC.

A nice afternoon coffee at home. Back to normal next week.
